String of Buttons
Botanical Name: Crassula perforata
Common Names: String of Buttons, Baby’s Necklace, Necklace Vine.
Another pleasant characteristic of the String of Buttons is the pink edging each leaf develops, along with the small, white, star-shaped flowers that grow along the stems. This creates an eye catching contrast of colours whether in bloom or not.
This Crassula is native to South Africa where it will thrive in hot and dry climates. This can be easily replicated in Australian gardens by mixing sand with a good quality potting mix and allowing the plant to dry out between deep watering.
The Crassula species are susceptible to root rot and fungal diseases, so it is important that your succulent is never left to sit in water. We recommend the use of a good quality potting soil mixed with sand to create a well drained environment.
