Much lusted after as an ornamental, the Yucca desmitiana is coveted for its intensely-coloured foliage. From bluish-grey leaves in its youth, to deep burgundy on maturation, this purplish plant develops a round, barrel-like rosette over time.

Native to northern Mexico deserts, Blue Boy is low maintenance and easy to grow with low water needs. A dramatic accent plant in containers pool-side, or mass planted as a garden border, it is also popular as an indoor potted plant and adapts well to being inside. Handle with care as there are thorns on the foliage.
