An elegant, beautifully hued Echeveria sometimes labelled Echeveria x imbricate, it is a French hybrid of the South American native, which has been popular for over three centuries! One of the oldest known Echeveria hybrids, it was created as a cross between Echeveria metallica and Echeveria glauca. It goes by the common name “Blue Rose”.
A vigorous grower which provides year round colour, it features dense, rounded, pastel blue-green leaves which are saucer-shaped and grow in overlapping circles to form tight, symmetrical rosettes up to 25cm wide. Leaves will occasionally have orange tips, and if grown in bright sunlight edges will blush pastel pink. Blooms are orange-pink and unscented.
Clustering to fill a container, this plant is easy to grow indoors or outdoors. It appreciates a sunny window spot or grow lights which will help preserve its colours and compact shape. Drought tolerant, it requires minimal watering and a container with wide drainage holes. Note that these succulents grow towards their light source, so for symmetrical rosettes, make sure to rotate your pot a few times a week.
