This wild-looking perennial dwarf shrub forms a dense large cushion of tightly-packed columns with several spines. A slow-grower, it branches freely and can reach 2.5m tall with a spread of 50cm. Cylindrical, blueish-limey green chalky stems are lined with deep fissures, and the resulting plant has been said to resemble tiny, spiny corncobs.
As with most Euphorbias, bright sunlight or indoor light and good drainage are required, and infrequent watering so that roots don’t rot. Of unknown origin (believed to be from wild plants found in South Africa, Cape Province).
NOTE: Euphorbia’s are for ornamental purposes only. The milky sap can be toxic and can cause adverse reactions if it comes into contact with the skin or eyes. Do not ingest. Euphorbias do not typically require pruning or maintenance, but take care when handling.
