Commonly known as Parry’s Agave, Parry’s Century Plant, or Mescal Agave, this medium-sized succulent can reach heights of up to 60cm and widths of 90cm. It is particularly renowned for its impressive flowering spike, which can grow as tall as 5m.

Native to Arizona, New Mexico, and northern Mexico, the Parry’s Agave thrives in arid and hot climates. It is highly drought-tolerant and prefers full sun exposure, requiring protection from frost during winter. It is known to produce offshoots or “pups” from the base of the plant, making it an excellent candidate for propagation and filling empty spots in gardens or sharing with others.

During its blooming period, Parry’s Agave sends up tall stems adorned with vibrant and delicate flowers, creating a stunning display across multiple stems.

To replicate its native conditions in Australian gardens, it is recommended to incorporate sand into a high-quality potting mix and allow the plant to thoroughly dry out between waterings. With its resilience to drought and preference for sunny locations, Agave parryi adds an element of beauty and resilience to succulent collections and garden landscapes.
