Description
Common Names: Watch Chain, Watch Chain Plant, Lizard’s Tail, Zipper Plant, Toy Cypress, Rattail Crassula, Clubmoss Crassula.
The Variegated Watch Chain Crassula is a beautiful succulent with very interesting foliage. The flowers on this crassula are striking and very attractive, however, they have a pungent not-so-beautiful smelling flower.
Crassula lycopodioides or Princess Pine is often mistaken for the Crassula muscosa or Watch Chain. Although both belong to the Crassula family, there are obvious differences with the open sparse leaves of the Princess Pine and the dense closed formation on the leaves of the Watch Chain. Both are very attractive, but have unique characteristics.
It has an invasive root system which will continue to spread into a lush thick ground cover if not contained, but will also spill and arch out of containers, making them especially delightful in a nice pot.
This spindly splendour is native to Namibia and South Africa, where it thrives in drier climates and certainly does not like too much moisture, making it very easy to care for.
